Cincinnati Engagement Photos at Ault Park | Maddie & Avery
These Cincinnati engagement photos at Ault Park were some of my favorites! Maddie and I had met a few months prior when I took her graduation photos, I had only heard stories about Avery and little did I know that a few months later, I would be doing their engagement shoot! This is the part about photography that never gets old for me, photographing a milestone for a client then turned friend and being there for subsequent milestones!
Ault Park Cincinnati
Maddie and Avery chose Ault Park for their Cincinnati engagement photos, and it couldn’t have been a more perfect spot. Ault Park is one of the city’s most iconic locations, known for its lush gardens, wide open lawns, and stunning overlook that offers a sweeping view of the Little Miami River valley. The mix of blooming flowers, classic stone staircases, and tree-lined paths gave us endless photo opportunities. From quiet, intimate moments under the arches to golden-hour shots surrounded by soft light filtering through the trees.
Cincinnati truly surprises me every time I shoot here, it’s so full of hidden gems like this. Ault Park has this timeless, romantic atmosphere that makes it ideal for couples who want both natural beauty and elegant architecture in one place. As the sun started to set, the park’s overlook glowed with warm light, and Maddie and Avery shared a few peaceful moments together, soaking it all in. It was one of those evenings where everything, location, light, and emotion, just came together perfectly.
The Location
Engagement Session Itinerary
We kicked off Avery and Maddie’s engagement session at the Ault Park Pavilion, grabbing some shots of them in their matching outfits. Avery pulled off a clean look with his white button-up, khakis, and tan dress shoes that matched Maddie’s white dress and heels perfectly! They had an awesome energy together, lots of laughs and natural chemistry, which made the whole shoot a blast to capture.

Ault Park Woods
After photographing Maddie and Avery at the Ault Park Pavilion, we headed over to the nearby wooded area and got some of my favorite shots from the entire day.
At the beginning of the session, Maddie mentioned to me that they wanted pictures that accurately depicted their love, which wasn’t too hard to do since they were naturals. The sunlight filtering through the trees gave everything this warm, golden glow that really brought out their connection. It was one of those moments where everything just clicked—the lighting, the setting, and the way they looked at each other.
The Great Lawn
Next, we made our way over to the open lawn area at Ault Park. The wide, open space gave us a totally different vibe from the pavilion and woods—bright, airy, and relaxed. The golden hour light was just beginning to wane, casting this soft glow across the grass.
Maddie kicked her heels off for a couple shots and they both began running around and laughing like they didn’t have a care in the world. You could really see how comfortable they were with each other, the kind of chemistry that doesn’t need any posing or direction. The mix of candid laughs, quiet moments, and that stunning backdrop made it the perfect way to end the day.
The Gardens
Finally, we wrapped up the session in the garden area at Ault Park, right as blue hour started to roll in. The soft, cool tones of the evening light gave everything a calm, almost cinematic feel. The flowers and greenery looked incredible under that fading glow, and the sky had that deep blue tint that you only get for a few minutes. Avery and Maddie slowed things down here—no more running around, just quiet moments and genuine smiles. It was the perfect way to end the shoot. The combination of the garden setting, the subtle light, and their natural connection made those last shots some of my favorites from the whole day!
